No heat, repeated shutdowns or rooms that will not warm up? Tell JSL what has changed. We can discuss your oil or propane furnace, the service needed and availability.
For a CO alarm, suspected CO exposure, gas smell, fire or smoke in the home, leave and call 911 from a safe location outside. If you smell gas, do not use switches, flames or a phone inside. Stay out until emergency responders say it is safe. Carbon monoxide has no smell. Health Canada guidance.
If there is no immediate hazard, check that the thermostat is set to heat and above room temperature. Record any code visible without removing covers, then call JSL with your location and symptoms. Do not repeatedly reset the burner or bypass a safety control. A web request does not confirm an appointment or emergency response.
Tell us whether the thermostat display is on, whether you hear the furnace trying to start and whether a fault code is visible. Mention a recent power interruption or fuel run-out. A code is a clue, not proof that a particular part needs replacement.
02
It starts, then stops
Note how often it happens and whether the home reaches the set temperature. Repeated shutdowns need diagnosis. For new soot or a bang at startup, do not restart the furnace to test it; call for service. Follow the emergency advice above if there is immediate danger.
03
Some rooms stay cold
Keep supply registers and return-air grilles free of furniture and other obstructions. Tell us which rooms are affected and when the air filter was last checked. Airflow, ductwork, controls and building heat loss may be involved; the furnace itself is only part of the system.
Repair or replace?
UNDERSTAND THE FINDING FIRST.
Ask for the diagnosed fault, proposed repair, price and checks needed afterward. If replacement is recommended, ask how equipment condition, repair history and parts availability affect the decision. Age alone does not diagnose a fault. A replacement assessment should consider the home's heating requirement and the work needed for ductwork, venting, fuel supply and controls.
Questions about your system

01
Have an oil furnace?
Share the furnace and burner model, recent service history and any tank or delivery concern. Leave oil-line bleeding, burner adjustments and hard-lockout resets to qualified professionals. Read the oil guide for maintenance, tank checks and repair planning.
If the tank ran empty or the fuel supply is uncertain, contact your propane supplier. Do not restore gas service yourself. Read the propane guide for maintenance, winter venting concerns and replacement planning.
A furnace distributes heated air through ducts. A boiler heats water for a hydronic system. Tell JSL which you have so we can confirm the appropriate service. If you are unsure, share the model details you can see safely.
Call to explain the problem and check availability. Do not wait for a web reply for an urgent issue.

JSL uses Google Analytics automatically on supported public pages to measure visits, selected request and phone-link clicks, and when the service-request form embed enters view. These clicks and views do not confirm a submitted request. The careers page is measured only as a page visit. You can turn website analytics off below without a popup or form.
Google receives technical information such as your IP address, browser details, page information, referrer site and cookie identifiers. JSL’s website analytics code supplies fixed page labels, page addresses without query strings or fragments, referrer origins and a limited set of campaign labels. It does not read form contents or set user IDs. Google advertising features are disabled for this integration. When enabled, the Residential Service Request form’s separate Google Analytics integration measures form activity and completed requests. Jobber may use analytics cookies and send Google browser and other technical data, cookie identifiers, full page and referral URLs, and campaign details. This integration operates independently of JSL’s website analytics code. Turning website analytics off in Privacy settings does not turn off Jobber’s own analytics. We have not verified whether Jobber independently respects Global Privacy Control.
Your website analytics preference is saved separately from marketing. A saved analytics off choice remains until you change it or clear this site’s browser data. JSL’s website analytics code respects existing analytics refusals and Global Privacy Control. Website analytics stays off if the preference cannot be reliably stored. Turning it off disables further measurement by JSL’s controller and attempts to remove its accessible first-party analytics cookies; it does not erase information Google already received. JSL’s website analytics cookies are configured for up to 180 days without extending that lifetime on subsequent events. See Google’s privacy policy.
Marketing tracking
Marketing tracking is off.
If you allow marketing tracking, Meta Pixel measures page visits and selected campaign clicks to help measure and improve JSL’s Facebook and Instagram advertising. Meta receives technical information such as your IP address, browser details, page URL, referrer and cookie identifiers, and may link this with your Meta account.
JSL’s tracking code does not send form contents or supply advanced-matching data. Website analytics has separate controls above. You can turn marketing tracking off here at any time. Turning it off stops future tracking by this integration and attempts to remove its accessible first-party cookies; it does not erase information Meta already received.
