Maintenance that fits the equipment

START WITH THE SYSTEM YOU HAVE.

Tell us what equipment is on site, its service history if known and the problems you want to address. Maintenance scope and scheduling depend on the equipment and operating conditions. We will discuss suitable options without putting you into a plan you have not agreed to.

For your home

MAKE YOUR MAINTENANCE VISIT USEFUL.

01

Before the visit

Gather the equipment make and model, fuel type, last service date and any previous reports. Note uneven temperatures, new noises, leaks or changes in operation. Tell us about access restrictions when requesting service. You do not need to diagnose the problem first.

02

Agree on the scope

Maintenance depends on the equipment and its instructions. Ask which inspection, cleaning and operating checks are proposed, and how any additional repair would be approved. Fuel-system, combustion, electrical and safety-control work belongs with a qualified technician.

03

Keep the record

Ask for a record of work completed, any unresolved concerns and the next recommended service date. Keep it with the owner’s manual and previous reports. If repair or replacement is recommended, ask what finding supports that recommendation.

Between visits

KNOW WHAT YOU CAN CHECK SAFELY.

In Yellowknife, arranging routine maintenance before sustained winter use gives you time to discuss concerns and any follow-up work. Use the equipment manufacturer’s instructions and the technician’s findings to set the schedule. Health Canada recommends professional inspection of fuel-burning appliances at least annually or according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

01

Furnaces and airflow

Keep supply and return grilles free of furniture and stored items. Check filters only as the owner’s manual permits, using the specified type and safe shutdown instructions. Leave burner, fuel-line and electrical work to a professional.

02

Boilers and hot-water systems

Record visible leaks, unusual sounds and rooms that are not warming normally. Do not open hot or pressurized parts, adjust fuel controls or repeatedly reset equipment that has stopped. Report the observations and the equipment details when you call.

03

Ventilation and winter access

Follow the ventilation unit’s manual for owner-maintenance tasks. Observe safely accessible outdoor openings for snow or frost blockage, and report damage or persistent ice. Keep the route to the equipment accessible without disturbing pipes, wiring or vents.
